Water Composition
The percentage of the body that is water is not a stable figure, it varies according to how well hydrated we are. The problems of dehydration in older people, for example can be demonstrated when we consider that at birth a baby is usually between 75% and 80% water, whereas people in their nineties are often less than 30% water. This is often because the thirst reflex becomes less efficient as we age and, in any case, thirst itself is an indication that you are failing to keep yourself properly hydrated and not just a signal to drink.
